Her head rested gently on my shoulder, her fleshy arm pressed against my side. It had already been a long bus ride and I did not mind the extra attention and comfort for it had been just hours since I was chased out of Kabwohe by an angry mob. Luckily that experience was not representative of my site visit.

The village I will live in is the northern part of the Sheema District, resting in a picturesque valley surrounded by farms. I do not yet know what I will be doing at the local farmers credit union but I do have a house! I’ll post pictures when I can. In short, there are two bedrooms, a living room and a bathing room. They are putting a door on one of the latrine stalls so that I can have privacy. My counterpart is amazing. We ate, talked and laughed every second we were not at the bank. Hmm. I’m hoping that working for a bank does not involve too much of working at a bank. My first project will likely be making use of their new computer system. Anybody have experience with setting up a database for a small bank (1200 members) that you can share?
